On Tuesday, October 22, St. James School students and leadership gathered to give thanks to the three lead donors who sponsored the renovation of our beautiful new English Language Arts Classroom.

St. David’s Episcopal Church in Wayne, The Rev. Marie Swayze in honor of Richard Swayze, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Townsend were all in attendance to accept the honor.

DSC_1092During the classroom dedication ceremony, Board Chair Father Sean Mullen and Head of School David Kasievich shared how impactful their contribution had been — transforming what was once the dining room into a fully equipped classroom, complete with new flooring, computers, and white boards. These gifts also launched a wider fundraising campaign (the Add 7 for 7th Grade campaign) that raised over $127,000 (wtih help from a matching gift from two generous donors) for needed classroom renovation and academic supplies.

Student representatives joined the ceremony to express their gratitude and share poems of thanksgiving. Afterwards, guests were invited to unveil the dedication plaque — which will be installed outside the classroom — recognizing each sponsor for their generosity.
