St. James School hosted its first ever 5K and kids fun run on Saturday, September 7, 2013.

Over 125 runners raced up Kelly Drive decked out in new St. James 5K t-shirts. The event drew many supporters, new friends, students and families, and some St. James VIPs, including school board member Jim Ballengee, The Rev. Jarrett Kerbel (Rector of the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields), school  Board Chair The Rev. Sean Mullen, Principal Laura Dimery, and Head of School David Kasievich.

Runners of all ages had the opportunity to participate, including children as young as two in the 1-mile fun run. Meanwhile, a group of St. James students proudly ran the 5K. The school’s top student finisher was Cordell, who beat out many of the adults!

After the race, adult runners were invited to an after-party featuring breakfast and cocktails hosted at Vesper Boathouse, where top finishers were awarded with prizes.

From the perfect weather to the delicious food, it was a very successful event, raising needed funds for school programs, and the school looks forward to a year two and beyond.

St. James School thanks the generous 5K sponsors for making this event possible: Brown’s ShopRite, Baker’s Centre Laundry and DiBruno Brothers. Big thanks also go to the 5K committee who did a wonderful job executing a well-organized, and very fun, event!
