Interviews for school admission or a job can cause anxiety and nervousness for anyone. St. James School 7th graders gained valuable practice and expertise this month during their first High School Interview Workshops.

In preparation for next year’s high school admissions interviews, students learned basic interview etiquette and strategies during Director of High School Placement Kevin Todd’s SKILLS class, the new high school preparation course launched this year. This included dressing appropriately, researching the school, body language, hand shakes, and speaking clearly. On January 25 and February 1, students put their skills to the test, sitting for mock admissions interviews with knowledgeable professionals who provided excellent feedback for success in future interviews.

Special thanks to Jim Ballengee and William Penn Charter School for hosting and to volunteer interviewers: Lexi Balfour, Dakota Dobyns, Sara Forrest, Corinna Franklin, Shira Gitomer, Jane Good, Patrick Keenan, Rey Ramirez, Gail Todd, Edward Wicks, and Penn Charter Service Council Students.
