St. James School dedicated its newest classroom to three generous supporters who made renovations possible: St. David’s Episcopal Church Wayne, ECHOES Around the World, and St. Christopher’s Church Gladwyne in memory of Rev. Mary E. Laney.

ABC_7227Thanks to their support, the former Chapel of St. Joseph was transformed over the summer: improved lighting, new flooring, painting and electrical work, while preserving the chapel’s original stenciling and other unique characteristics. With the renovation, St. James School has been able to grow and house a new class of fifth graders — the room now serves as the 5th Grade Homeroom and English Language Arts Room.

Students, staff and Board members gathered to thank the groups in a special dedication ceremony. School chaplain Deacon Alex Lenzo led a blessing and invited students to share reflections, prayers, and words of gratitude for guests. Students surprised guests by reciting a poem titled “Thank You” by Mary Katherine Jefferson. Head of School David Kasievich invited supporters to officially unveil a dedication plaque which will hang outside the classroom and recognize each organization for their commitment to St. James School.
