On March 12, St. James School students, families, and supporters gathered for the 3rd Annual Art and Music Showcase where students in all grades displayed an impressive array of artwork and vocal ensemble. Art projects included: pieces inspired by artist Keith Haring; portraits of Nelson Mandela and famous African Americans; handmade student quilts; and peace murals. Student artists put a number of pieces up for sale in a silent auction, which quickly inspired fun competitive bidding between guests. All proceeds benefited the school’s scholarship fund.
The choir sang in several pop-up performances for guests, and the event concluded with the 7th grade unveiling a surprise music video of their original rap “Success (We are St. James School).” Click here to watch the music video.
Special thanks to music teacher Dr. Darryl Roland and art teacher Deena Ball for organizing an inspiring showcase.
