Interested in Volunteering?

Your time and talent is always welcome at St. James School and the Church of St. James the Less. Volunteer opportunities are varied from a one-time project or an ongoing commitment. These gifts of time and special expertise help us to maximize limited resources and provide our students and community with the best quality services.

Our Top Needs

YoPros (Young Professionals) Committee

Meetings are the first Monday of the month on Zoom at 5:30pm

Join this committed group of young professionals that support the mission of St. James School. New members are welcome to explore this committee that helps to spread the mission, get their networks involved, and support St. James School’s community. The Welcome Table

Saturdays from 7:00am – 12:00pm.

Join The Welcome Table Team, volunteers, and neighbors every Saturday morning. Help is needed organizing and distributing food and clothing. To RSVP contact Paul Barrett at pbarrett@stjamesphila.org 

Community and Family Service Day

Select Saturdays from 9:00am – 12:00pm.

Join St. James School families, community members and faith community partners for a hands-on volunteer experience. The Head of School and Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with a list of tasks for the morning. Whether it is cleaning, organizing, painting or raking leaves, there is always plenty of work for you or your group. Dress comfortably and bring a pair of work gloves. Saturday Academic Clinic

Select Saturdays from 10:00am – 1:00pm. See below for dates

Your academic assistance is needed! Use your time to assist individual students or a small group with homework or help students complete projects. A lead teacher is present to assist you and provide you with more information. This academic year we are focusing on MATH! To RSVP please contact Maggie Sanborn at msanborn@stjamesphila.org

Other Volunteer Needs

  • Field trip chaperones
  • Alumni college visits chaperones
  • After school tutoring; help students brush up on skills 3:00pm-4:00pm, 4:00pm-5:00pm
  • Kitchen volunteering 
  • Garden Club – gardening, yard work, campus clean ups
  • Church of St. James the Less and cemetery volunteers 
  • Something else–do you have an idea of how you’d like to lend your talents in a way that’s not listed? Let us know!

Volunteer schedules are very flexible and can span one week, specific days across weeks, or partial weeks.
