Community Conversations
We Talk. We Listen. We Lead Together.
On the first Saturday of the month at 10:00 am, neighbors gather at The Welcome Table for Community Conversations – a time to connect across differences, explore the issues shaping our daily lives, imagine what’s possible when we work together, and take action that leads to an even better community for all. Whether you’re new to the neighborhood or have lived here your whole life, your voice matters and you are invited to join the conversation.
Topics and Projects
From neighborhood safety to bridging generational divides, from beautifying our blocks to strengthening relationships, these conversations are grounded in what matters most to the people who live here. But we don’t stop at talking. Together, participants turn ideas into action – designing and leading projects that respond directly to community needs and build a stronger, more connected neighborhood.
What to Expect
- Open, welcoming conversations grounded in real community experiences
- Opportunities to share your perspective and hear from others
- A focus on solutions, not just challenges
- Pathways to get involved in neighbor-led projects and initiatives
What We Have Done So Far
Community Conversations has already sparked meaningful, neighbor-led efforts. Here are some recent examples.
Know Your Rights Discussion: Neighbors gathered with criminal defense attorney Richard Coble to better understand their rights when interacting with law enforcement – increasing their knowledge and confidence in navigating real-life situations.
Politics & Pizza (Youth Event): Young people explored how decisions are made in everyday life and in government through an interactive, real-world scenario – connecting civic engagement to their own experiences (with plenty of pizza to fuel the conversation).
Senior Prom: An evening of dancing, joy, and connection that celebrated our elders and created space for community across generations.
