The Episcopal School in North Philadelphia

Celebrated Monday June 6, 2016, St. James School transformed The Union League of Philadelphia into the lively setting of a country fair. Over 260 guests gathered for the totally sold out 2nd annual Dr. Audrey Evans Scholarship Benefit, complete with a prize wheel, flea market, photo opportunities with the St. James School Huskies mascot, roaming banjo player, caricaturist, hot dogs, pop corn, and cotton candy.

StDavids-Logo-1C-LARGEThe Country Fair included one of the highlights of the evening–the prize wheel full of great ways to visit and engage with the school’s community, like a nighttime tour of the cemetery of St. James the Less and a catered picnic with the school chef.

“Continue to be connected–if you haven’t stepped on the campus of St. James, I would encourage you to go!” — The Reverend Matt Holcombe

During the evening’s program, student emcees Justin and Tyane (along with their student ambassadors EJ and Naje) honored Dr. Darryl J. Ford of William Penn Charter School (a founding advisory board member) and the people of St. David’s Church, especially The Reverends Matt Holcombe and Frank Allen. After awarding the honorees with a special framed award, they were surprised with a game show on stage (The Opening Doors Game) that followed with Head of School David Kasievich announcing the naming of the Dr. Darryl Ford Head of School Office and the athletic field in St. David’s honor.

Instead of a traditional live auction, auctioneer Fred Wampler challenged guests to bid in support of a student scholarship, which raised $45,000 (a scholarship and a half).

“I thank God for the opportunity we’ve all had together to touch the lives of so many kids and families. ” — The Reverend Frank Allen

Due to the generosity of sponsors, guests, and many supporters, the event raised a grand total of $188,000 in scholarship funds for students.
