On Tuesday February 7, St. James School celebrated its students who excelled during the second quarter with its Honor Roll Breakfast. Amidst brightly colored balloons, stacks of flapjacks, and whipped cream, a large group of family members gathered in the community room early to joyfully recognize their loved ones. Geonna and Naje earned high honors with straight A’s for this marking period.
Recognition for being on the honor roll (students with only A’s and B’s during the second quarter) was given to:
Agustina, Amare, Da’Jah, Destiny, Elijah, Hamirah, Hanirah, Jayla, John, Kareem, Kevine, Lola, Mackenzie, Makiyah, Micah, Nydira, Riley, Samia, Serenity, Shakim, Tymia, and Tynira
Along with academic excellence, students with perfect attendance were celebrated during the presentation:
Adrienne, Ayniah, Da’Jah, Endiah, Jerome, Shakim, Troy, and Zyair
Alumna Ainyae Holmes (Class of 2015) crowned the event with an inspirational keynote speech for our young scholars. An excellent student and rising track star, Holmes spoke on the importance of working hard and shared her own experiences of overcoming being discouraged by her peers. She urged our honor roll winners to push themselves. Currently Holmes is a sophomore at William Penn Charter School.
Following the freshly prepared breakfast and alumna speech, Heads of School David Kasievich and Dave McDonough presented each student with their certificates and encouraged them to continue their great work.
