The Episcopal School in North Philadelphia

lHoffmanIt is with great joy that we announce Laura Hoffman as the founding Principal of St. James School.

Since 2004, Laura has served as a teacher and principal of St. Malachy School, an elementary school located in North Philadelphia. She has been recognized by the educational community for transforming St. Malachy School, which serves 200 students, into a school known for academic excellence, community service and sending its students to some of the best high schools in the city. Due to Laura’s hard work, St. Malachy School was fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools in 2009. She has vast experience in curriculum development, finance, marketing and facilities management.

Laura earned a Bachelors of Science in Art Education from Temple University, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education (Special Education Certificate Program) from Chestnut Hill College, and is currently enrolled in the Elementary Administrator’s Program at Immaculata University. She is also enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania’s Distributed Leadership Program to secure her Pennsylvania’s Administrator’s Certificate.

Soon after graduating from college, Laura was called to serve inner city children so she fully understands the great opportunity that the NativityMiguel model provides urban children from underserved communities. Laura is more than ready to begin the challenge and to work with us to fulfill our goal of opening in September.

Laura grew up in the Main Line, has lived in San Francisco and now calls Center City home. She has begun working at St. James School in the evenings and on the weekends and will begin full time on June 1st.
