Students visited Manayunk Pottery, the studio of Janice Strawder, who instructed the students in a lesson on textured trays.

Students watched a wheel throwing demonstration and made textured trays. The textures on the trays were made by pressing stamps, lace and fabric printing blocks into slabs of clay. Some trays were made using slump molds. Other slabs were made into trays by pushing with a block of wood in the center while the textured slab was on foam, this caused the edges to rise and magically create a tray. Manayunk Pottery  is generously firing and glazing the students projects.

The trip was made possible through the generous financial support of long time friend and advisory board member Bob Brano.
