In preparation for the opening of year two at St. James School, incoming and returning staff met early to begin a long day of group sessions and more.
The day began with prayer in the Church of St. James the Less, followed by the first group session led by Fr. Sean Mullen and Dr. Audrey Evans. The co-founders spoke in length about the mission to start a school in Philadelphia, and what led them to the campus in Allegheny West. It was clear Fr. Sean headed the call of God to bring quality education to an area in great need, and the staff were nothing less than inspired by his message of hope.
The staff then proceeded to review student results from year one, covering everything from test scores to report cards to individual’s behavior. Others helped prepare rooms and work on the long task list that will need to be accomplished by opening day on Monday, September 10.
By late afternoon, families were arriving for the first of two orientation sessions in which they receive an overview of the school and have a chance to meet and interact with school teachers and staff.
