The anticipation was building as the caravan of cars and the St. James School van made its way to GoVertical, an indoor rocking climbing gym on Delaware Avenue. For months students have been preparing for of their most challenging adventures to date. After an orientation led by Eric Dolaway, Executive Director of Urban Blazers, and the team from GoVertical, St. James School squeezed into their harnesses for what promised to be a life changing afternoon. All sixteen students took on the challenge of climbing a series of climbing walls, recreating some of the most extreme climbing conditions. Expresses such as “I can’t,” “that’s too high,” “I’m scared,” and “there is no way,” eventually transformed to “I did it,” “that was great,” “I want to do it again,” and “I can’t believe I did it.”
