University of Arizona’s Will Parks speaks at St. James School

On Friday, January 9, Will Parks was our morning meeting Leader of the Day. Parks is starting safety for University of Arizona and older brother of 6th grader Nadir. Parks, who grew up right around the corner from the school, spoke to the students about life as a Division I student athlete. He graduated Germantown High School and went on to University of Arizona where he led the defense to second place in the PAC 10, a 10th place national ranking in the NCAA, and a Fiesta Bowl match up against Boise State.

His motivational talk focused on his to commitment me made to both himself and to his family to complete his undergraduate dual-degree in Sports & Society and Business — no matter how much success his college football career brings him.

Parks described his long 14 hours days mixed with football practice, back-to-back-to-back classes, and film sessions. He also stressed the importance of academics, hard work, and sacrifice, and even reminisced about his days playing youth sports right here on the St. James School campus.

It was an exciting honor to have such an outstanding young leader visit the students.
