Amidst one of the worst winter seasons on record, the weather could not have been better for the 1st Annual St. James Forum. A sunny 60 degree afternoon awaited over 100 attendees who gathered on the campus of St. James School. The event was tailored to faith-based communities and focused on Episcopal education in today’s struggling school systems.
The afternoon began with a noonday prayer service in the historic Church of St. James the Less, led by Rt. Rev. Clifton Daniel, III, Bishop Provisional of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania. Guests were treated to a performance by the St. James School Choir, directed by St. James School Music Teacher Dr. Darryl Roland.
Guests enjoyed lunch and the opportunity to share ideas with staff, clergy, lay leaders, and parishioners from over 20 area churches. Special guest Ann Mellow, associate director of the National Association of Episcopal Schools, delivered an inspiring talk on the role of Episcopal schools in education, especially those serving underresourced neighborhoods.

St. James Head of School David Kasievich emphasized how integral church partners are to the work at St. James School and beyond.
Many church partners provide invaluable volunteer service, financial support, and strategic leadership, and as such were recognized during a final awards ceremony. Congratulations to the winners of the 1st Annual Church Ambassadors Awards. The school community is ever grateful to all attendees for ample enthusiasm and ideas in continuing this great mission in Allegheny West Philadelphia.
